How to Choose a Silk Saree for a Wedding
October 31, 2026
Choosing a wedding saree can feel hard when there are so many colours and designs. Start with these questions and the choice becomes much easier.
Decide your role and the time of the event
A bride, a close family member and a guest all dress differently. Family members usually wear richer shades and heavier zari. Guests often choose lighter or medium work that is easier to carry through a long function.
A day wedding suits softer colours, and an evening function suits deeper shades and brighter zari.
Pick a colour that suits you and the occasion
Reds, maroons, royal blues, greens and golds are classic choices for weddings. Pastel shades such as pink and sky blue look fresh for day functions. If you are a guest, avoid wearing the same colour as the bride.
Choose the right weight and border
A heavy border and a rich pallu look grand, but they are tiring to wear for many hours. If you will be sitting and standing for a long time, pick a medium weight saree with a good pallu. Look at the saree in daylight photos to judge the colour properly.
Think about the blouse
Check whether the saree comes with a stitched blouse or a blouse piece. Some of our sarees come with a stitched blouse, as shown on the product page. If the blouse is a piece, leave time for stitching.
Set a budget and check delivery
Decide your budget first, then compare a few sarees within it. Our orders are prepared in 5 to 6 business days and delivered in 3 to 4 business days after dispatch, so order well before the event.
Look after the saree
Keep silk sarees wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Dry cleaning is the safest way to clean a heavy silk saree.
